Scrapbooking Tips and Ideas

Scrapbooking Tip #3 Why you need to journal!

One thing to always remember when thinking about journaling a page is that your family's stories are the most important part of preserving your memories. Your great-great-grandchildren are not going to care what your handwriting looks like, whether you used the computer or a pen, or if the sticker was on straight. They will care if the story is not told. don't let them miss out on your excitement and fun!

Journal boxes add a nice touch to a layout and can be redone if you make a serious writing mistake, whereas writing on the layout itself could have consequences. If you are having a hard time thinking of something to write, try answering these questions:

  • Who was there? (include full names)
  • When was the event? Date? Time of day?
  • What were you feeling? What were other people feeling? acid-free, permanent, scrapbook pens Did someone say something funny, touching, or unique?(out of the mouths of babes, ya know)

A few more tips to remember when you start journaling:

  • Use acid-free, permanent, scrapbook pens.
  • Keep it simple, use titles and bullet points.
  • Always leave room in your layout, plan to journal every page!
