Crockpot Recipes Crock Pot Boston Brown Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups sifted whole wheat flour
- 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 3/4 cup dark molasses
- 2 cups buttermilk or sour milk
- 1 cup raisins
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, stir together flour, soda, baking powder and salt.
- Add cornmeal, mix well.
- Add remaining ingredients and beat well.
- Pour batter into a greased and floured mold.
- Put 2 cups of water into your crockpot and set mold, centered, inside.
- Cover and cook on high for 4 to 5 hours.
- Remove from the crock pot and let cool 1 hour before unmolding.
- Serve with your favorite fruited cream cheese spread or plain cream cheese.
