Hush Puppy Mix

Ingredients:

• 1 1/2 cups yellow corn meal
• 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 3 Tbsp. dried minced onion
• 1 tsp. baking powder
• 1 tsp. sugar
• 1 tsp. salt
• 1/2 tsp. baking soda
• 1/4 tsp. ground red pepper

Instructions:
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Makes 2 1/4 cups mix, which needs to go in a quart jar. Or this can be made into a cone with a plastic or bakers bag, then you decorate the top.

For the Tag:

Hush Puppy Mix

• 1 jar Hush Puppy Mix
• 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
• 1 beaten egg
• 1 tsp. vanilla

In a deep skillet, 1 1/2" of vegetable oil to 350 degrees. In a medium bowl, combine mix with buttermilk and egg. Blend well. Drop mixture by spoonfuls into hot oil. Flip and fry until golden brown and thoroughly cooked through. Drain and place on paper towels to get off excess oil.
